Who We Are

Our Story

Eric Jones is a seasoned business-builder, investor, and non-profit executive who has focused his career and advocacy on healthcare, technology, education, the arts, and more. Eric and Rachel moved to the Napa Valley to raise their kids and are deeply committed to the long-term vitality and character of the region. Rachel Vineberg Jones is an Architect and the founder of Vine Projects.

After earning a degree in Economics and International Studies from Yale University, Eric began his career at JP Morgan in 2012 before joining Marc Stad to launch Dragoneer Investment Group in 2013. By 2017, at just 27, he became Dragoneer’s first non-founding Partner. Over 12 years with the firm, Eric played a key role in scaling its assets under management from $180 million to over $24 billion, helping establish Dragoneer as one of the leading investment firms of the past decade. Eric’s business career has been focused in healthcare, technology, and in financial services companies with a focus on financial inclusion. Eric has been published in the Wall Street Journal, the Sonoma Press Democrat, and the Napa Press Register.

Sample companies and investments:

Healthcare: Maven Clinic – the leading maternity clinic in the US. Lyra – the world’s largest online therapist and mental health services network.

Technology: Duolingo – the world’s leading online language learning application. Mercado Libre – the leading marketplace for small business sellers across Latin America.

Financial inclusion: Nubank – Latin America’s first no-fee credit focus on financial inclusion.

Eric’s philanthropic work has grown alongside his professional career. During the COVID 19 pandemic, Eric helped launch a new literacy coalition, which ensured over 10,000 students maintained access to in-person learning. Together with his wife Rachel, Eric is an established supporter of Bay Area arts institutions, reflecting a shared belief in the power of creativity and culture.

While at Yale, Eric co-founded an immigrant-focused Community Bank in New Haven, CT. He also started the Yale Ambassador Program – focused on bringing first generation college students to Yale. Eric is the founder of the American Dream Institute – a research institute and “talk tank” focused on recapturing the American Dream. Eric is on the board of the Napa Valley Land Trust. Eric is a current board member at Maven Clinic.

Eric Jones is the son of an immigrant and comes from a family of enlisted veterans. He grew up in small-town Maine in a family that relied on government programs and assistance. He is a first generation college graduate who appreciates the criticality of supporting the American Dream.

Rachel Vineberg Jones is an accomplished architectural designer and small business owner who couples expertise in design with dedication to cultural access and community development. Her projects are wide-ranging and include art institutions, hospitality, workplaces, and residential projects. Rachel currently sits on the Architecture & Design Accessions Committee at SFMOMA and the Institute of Contemporary Art SF Board of Directors.

Rachel holds a B.A. from Columbia University in History of Art and Architecture, and a Masters in Architecture from the College of Environmental Design at UC Berkeley, where she was awarded the AIA Henry Adams Medal, the program’s top honor.

Prior to her career in architecture, Rachel worked at venture capital firm first round, collaborating closely with founders, engineers, and investors. Originally from Brooklyn, NY, she has called Northern California home for over a decade.

Together, Eric and Rachel launched the Rachel and Eric Jones Foundation dedicated to creating positive lasting impact for individuals, families, and communities in Northern California.
